This festival that is family friendly but still has some adult fun After Dark!

This festival is situated just outside Newton Abbot In Devon. Upon arriving at the festival I couldn't see much of the main fields as we arrived late so had to somehow unravel a tent, get ready, eat and get an entire drum kit and my cameras to the tent in 20 minutes!

It was a rush but I made it there in one piece and cameras at the ready.

Malavita were on at 9pm which was handy for me as the lighting within this tent was extremely hard to shoot in during natural sunlight as it was entirely red and very reflective onto band members.

I have a before and after edited photo for you to see the severity of the problem.

Before After

The other continuous problem I was facing when within this tent, was that the circulation of air was minimal and the smoke machine excretion was violent and large!

So some of the photos that I had taken had a beautiful smokey glaze to them. However with some clever editing skills, I managed to maintain the quality and keep the picture looking lush.

After cleaning my lenses and prepping up the lighting in the room, as I like to work manually with my cameras and lenses and some lenses are 40 years old so they need to be treated with some respect (respect the elders and all that.)

I was fortunate enough to capture and listen to the brilliant Mr B the Gentlemen Rhymer who is the co founder of the genre Chap - Hop, If you haven't heard it before I would highly recommend listening to it with a cup of tea but be warned, you may spit the tea all over your radio! I have been in love with this unique style of music for many years and managed to share a few kind but meaningful words with the man himself after the show! (I was slightly star struck, but don't tell him that!)

After he got the crowd going and made way for the brilliant Malavita, undoubtedly the most fun and vibrant band I have had the pleasure to see live. They are an 8 piece latino, funk, reggae, fun band who are just pure delight to see and they bang out some incredible original songs with a couple of covers snuck in there! Their set is full of surprises and the only band I saw that got interactive with the crowd! I won't reveal their stage secrets, you will have to see them live in order to discover that! Their CD is available and they play all over the UK so check them out!

Here are a few Shots I am super proud of, however my job is made easier by having such fun subjects to shoot!

After this energetic gig ended, we packed down and watched the final act on stage which was the awesome BackBeat SoundSystem! Who rocked the stage to headline.

I then had the absolute privilege to see the legendary Martha Reeve's. Aged 77 she was showing us how it was done! With a full band backing and harmonising with her smooth voice.

The next day I had time to explore the depth of this festival, not knowing a lot about it but really enjoying the pun - tastic name, I really wanted to evoke the feeling of it.

From the get go you can clearly see that this festival caters to children around every corner there were various activities to undertake. Including a live dragon show!

There were walking pixies and wonderland creatures roaming the festival grounds making the children and adults feel happy and more interactive with the festival.

It had a feeling of a bigger place, prime example: when you are at a festival usually this conversation comes into play;

'Right, I need a wee. So will be about 45 minutes. Are you staying here or shall I meet you at the other tent to the left of the stage.....!' and never see them again until you bundle into each other on the way back to the tent at an unearthly hour.

This may be a exaggeration but you get the idea. where is this festival is;

'Right I need a wee. meet you back here in 10 minutes.' walks 100 ft ' oh! there they are. Might have time to nip to the bar as well.' Walks another 200 ft ' Oh there is the bar! easy peasy!'
